Welcome to the 2014 NFL season! For the first time, the Miami Dolphins will be on the field today, holding practice and starting their preparation for preseason games in August. Today, the Dolphins open the doors to the training facility for the rookie minicamp.
The rookie minicamp is the one mandatory workout for the rookies outside of the team's full minicamp later in the offseason workout program. The Collective Bargaining Agreement explains that the "post-Draft Rookie Minicamp" may be held "on either the first or second weekend following the College Draft." The Dolphins elected to hold the camp the second weekend after the Draft this year.
The Dolphins will welcome in their eight-man draft class as well as all of their undrafted free agent and likely several players on a tryout basis. Included in that group are offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James, wide receiver Jarvis Landry, and offensive lineman Billy Turner, the team's first three Draft picks. Also of note are some of the undrafted free agents, including tight end Gator Hoskins, center Tyler Larsen, linebacker Tariq Edwards, and wide receiver Rantavious Wooten.
Throughout the weekend, we will continue to update you on the latest news and rumors out of minicamp.
