As expected, the suspension of Miami Dolphins safety Don Jones effectively cost him a few days of the voluntary offseason workouts. Jones, who was fined and excused from the team after tweeting "omg" and "horrible" when Michael Sam and his boyfriend kissed following Sam's selection in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, making Sam the first openly gay player in the NFL.
The Dolphins brought Jones into the team facility the day after the tweets and informed him of the decision to fine him an undisclosed amount and effectively suspend him from working out at the team facilities. Current workouts are voluntary, and the teams are not authorized to conduct offense versus defense drills yet.
The suspension was indefinite until Jones completed "educational training." With the lifting of the suspension, Jones appears to have completed whatever was required and can no rejoin the team after one week away.
The Dolphins have not held any minicamps or organized team activities yet, with the first of those, the rookie minicamp, taking place this upcoming weekend.
