Currently, the Miami Dolphins have 58 players under contract, giving them 32 available positions to fill. Under NFL rules, during the offseason and into training camp, teams are authorized up to 90 players on their rister. With just 58 players, the Dolphins are currently tied with the New Orleans Saints for the lowest number of players on the roster in the league.
It does not look like the Dolphins intend to stay that low for very long, however. Earlier today, reports indicated the Dolphins would be visiting with free agent offensive tackle Jason Fox. Now, National Football Post's Aaron Wilson has indicated Miami is also hosting wide receiver Lestar Jean.
Jean went undrafted in 2011 out of Florida Atlantic. He signed as a free agent that summer with the Houston Texans, but spent the season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. He returned to the Texans in 2012, appearing in 14 games, with one start. He also appeared in 11 games in 2013 for Houston. He has 10 receptions in his career, for 186 yards and a touchdown.
Jean met with the Carolina Panthers last month.
