A look at the Miami Dolphins roster heading into the NFL's 2014 Free Agency period. We break down the team's needs, the top players available, and what could happen. Today, we continue with the wide receivers.

Mike Ehrmann

We've officially reached free agency day. As we get ready for the madness that is this afternoon, we take a look at the status of the Miami Dolphins' roster, as well as the needs and potential solutions for each area of the roster. We've already looked at the defense, quarterbacks, tight ends, and running backs, now we move on to the wide receivers.

Current Roster:

Number Player Position HT WT Age Exp School
19 Binns, Armon WR 6'3" 209 24 2 Cincinnati
10 Gibson, Brandon WR 6'0" 205 26 5 Washington State
82 Hartline, Brian WR 6'2" 199 27 5 Ohio State
18 Matthews, Rishard WR 6'0" 210 24 2 Nevada
87 Spadola, Ryan WR 6'3" 201 23 1 Lehigh
11 Wallace, Mike WR 6'0" 199 27 5 Mississippi

Potential Free Agents:

Number Player Position HT WT Age Exp School
14 Moore, Marlon WR 6'0" 190 26 3 Fresno State

Roster Status:

Wide receiver is another area of the Dolphins roster that could look a lot like last year's group when the 2014 regular season rolls around. Obviously, the top two, Brian Hartline and Mike Wallace, will remain the top two. Behind them, Brandon Gibson, Rishard Matthews, and Armon Binns will fill the third through fifth spot on the depth chart, while Ryan Spadola will fight for a roster spot or return to the practice squad. Re-signing Marlon Moore could also be on the table, given his special teams abilities.

Top 5 Free Agents:

Rank Player 2013 Team
1 Eric Decker Denver Broncos
2 Hakeem Nicks New York Giants
3 Santonio Holmes New York Jets
4 Julian Edelman New England Patriots
5 Golden Tate Seattle Seahawks

Top 5 Draft Prospects:

Rank Player College
1 Sammy Watkins Clemson
2 Mike Evans Texas A&M
3 Marqise Lee USC
4 Kelvin Benjamin FSU
5 Odell Beckham, Jr./td> LSU

Nogle's Offseason Projection:

The wide receivers on the roster now will probably be the same wide receivers on the roster when the season starts. Gibson's injury last year allowed Matthews to show his potential, and should keep him fully entrenched as a depth option. Adding a wide receiver late in the Draft or as an undrafted free agent is an option.
