The Miami Dolphins announced the promotion of Matt Hazel off the practice squad Saturday afternoon.  The rookie wide receiver out of Coastal Carolina was selected int he sixth round of this year's NFL Draft by the Dolphins, before landing on the practice squad at the end of the preseason.

He caught six passes for 87 yards in Miami's four exhibition games.

Hazel was named to the First-Team All-Big South in 2013, catching 70 passes for 990 yards, both marks good for second in the conference, with nine touchdowns, tied for the conference lead. He was also selected to the All-Big South First-Team as a Junior in 2012 and the Second-Team as a Sophomore in 2011.

For his college career, Hazel appeared in 49 games, with 183 receptions for 2,253 yards, with 29 touchdowns.

The Dolphins made the roster space for Hazel by waiving linebacker Jake Knott. Knott signed with the Dolphins on December 9, after a brief stint on the practice squad. Knott was added to the team as multiple linebackers missed playing time due to injury. It appears Miami will have the services of Koa Misi, Jonathan Freeny, Chris McCain, and Jordan Tripp this week, with Jelani Jenkins currently listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
