Miami Dolphins cornerback Will Davis suffered a season-ending knee injury in Thursday night's game against the Buffalo Bills, the team announced today. Davis suffered the injury in the third quarter of the team's 22-9 win.
A 2013 third-round draft choice, Davis is a key member of Miami's special teams as well as a primary reserve defensive back. This season, Davis has appeared in all 10 games, starting once at cornerback, and has recorded 17 tackles with three passes defensed.
The injury came on a special teams tackle as Davis played on the punt coverage team.
Davis joins tackle Branden Albert, linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, defensive tackle A.J. Francis, running back Mike Gillislee, defensive tackle Kamal Johnson, tight end Arthur Lynch, running back Knowshon Moreno, cornerback Sammy Seamster, and safety Michael Thomas on the injured reserve list for Miami this season.
Miami will likely look to add cornerback depth to the roster, filling Davis' space. The team is also dealing with injuries to cornerback Cortland Finnegan, whose injured ankle forced him from the game against the Detroit Lions in Week 10 and made him sit out Thursday's game, and nickel back/reserve safety Jimmy Wilson, who has been battling a hamstring issue over the past few weeks.
Miami plays the Denver Broncos on November 23.
