Dolphins re-sign Damian Williams; Waive Orleans Darkwa

The Miami Dolphins have re-signed free agent wide receiver Damian Williams, the team announced today.

Free agent wide receiver Damian Williams is once again a member of the Miami Dolphins. Williams spent the preseason with the Dolphins before being among the final wave of roster cuts.

Williams was a third round selection by the Tennessee Titans in 2010, spending four years with the club. He caught 106 poasses for 1,313 yards and five touchdowns during that span. The University of Southern California product joined Miami in April this year and was intially thought to be a depth signing behind Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline, Brandon Gibson, and Rishard Matthews. Miami also selected a wide receiver, Jarvis Landry, in May's NFL Draft.

The veteran was not going to make it an easy decision to release him, however, as he recorded four receptions for 100 yards in the preseason, and worked as a punt returner for the team.

The signing of Williams could signal an issue for Gibson, who was on the sidelines during Monday's practice. No injury has been disclosed for Gibson.

To make roster space for Williams, the team waived running back Orleans Darkwa.
