San Francisco 49ers @ St. Louis Rams Live Thread

The San Francisco 49ers travel this evening to take on the St. Louis Rams. Join us here to discuss this game live or any of the other happenings in the NFL this weekend.

Now stretching in to its 2nd season the rumors surrounding 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh persist. The rumors of course are that there is a huge wedge and plenty of disagreement between Harbaugh and the 49ers front office and that Jim has lost the trust of some players. This in turn has spurned further rumors including him leaving to take over the job at his Alma mater Michigan or even finally accepting the Dolphins job now that much disliked Jeff Ireland is gone. Through it all the 49ers continue to play well and have over that same time continued to be considered one of the best teams in the NFL. One thing that may have kept the team in the right course is the continues support of starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick who this week said "I love Coach Harbaugh. I'd go to war with him any day of the week''; ''He's a competitor, he wants to win and he's going to do anything to put this team in a position to win.''. The team began the season by destroying what most now consider one of the best teams in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 28 to 17, but it was not even that close. Then they lost to the Bears and a very solid Cardinals team in consecutive weeks then rebounding to win their next 2 over the Eagles and Chiefs. The hope to continue that new streak this evening.

The Rams come in to tonight's game struggling at one and three. Their job of winning only their second game of the year will be made all that more difficult this evening when they face the number three rushing offense in the NFL. The Rams are ranked near the bottom of the league stopping the run at 29th, giving up 152.5 yards per game. Lack of consistency has been one of the largest issues plaguing the Rams this season. The Rams had a 21 point lead over the Cowboys two weeks ago only to lose the game 34 to 31. Last week the Rams traveled to Philly to take on the Eagles where they trailed 34 to 7 before their rookie QB Austin Davis rallied the team to score the final 21 points of the game but still falling short by a score of 28 to 34. Davis has now been handed the title of starting QB by head coach Jeff Fisher who hopes the change will jump start his struggling team and possibly save his job (Any Dolphin fans out there still wishing we had got him as our guy?). In the two games leading up to tonight Davis has thrown 6 touchdowns to only two interceptions. He will have his work cut out for him going up against the 49ers who have held their previous two opponents to under 200 yards through the air.
