The Miami Dolphins are preparing to interview candaidates for their vacant general manager position. The Dolphins caused the need with the "mutual agreement" to part ways with former GM Jeff Ireland after six years. Now, the team is looking to compile a list of potential replacements, a list they have stated would be published as the team looks to live up to the promise of more transparency with the team.
One name from that list has come to the surface already. The Dolphins have been granted permission by the New York Giants to interview their Vice President of Player Evaluation, Marc Ross, according to a report from the Long Island Newsday. With the Giants, Ross has been responsible for evaluating and drafting college players.
Ross has been interviewed by several teams for GM positions in the past few years. He has also been given permission to speak with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this year.
Ross's NFL career started in 1995 as a training camp intern with the Giants. He then joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 1996, serving as a regional scout for the club before being promoted to scouting director in 2000, then the NFL's youngest person in such a position. In 2004, he moved to the Buffalo Bills, where he took a position as the national college scout. He left the Bills to re-join the Giants in 2007.
