The Miami Dolphins continued their search for a new General Manager yesterday with the seventh candidate to be interviewed for the job. Joining a list already containing Dolphins Assistant General Manager Brian Gaine, Arizona Cardinals Vice President of Player Personnel, Pittsburgh Steelers Director of Football Administration Omar Khan, Tennessee Titans Vice President of Player Personnel Lake Dawson, Cleveland Browns Director of Football Administration Ray Farmer, and Detroit Lions Senior Personnel Executive Brian Xanders, is Tampa Bay Buccaneers Director of Player Personnel Dennis Hickey.
Hickey has spent 18 years with the Buccaneers, working up from scout to his current position, which he assumed in 2011. Tampa Bay credits Hickey with playing a major role in the acquisition of players like safety Dashon Goldson, cornerback Darrelle Revis, as well as developing the draft plan for the team leading to players like cornerback Johnthan Banks, running back Doug Martin, and defensive end Adrian Clayborn.
The Buccaneers have not interviewed Hickey for their General Manager position.
The Dolphins could still consider other candidates for the position, but are thought to be close to narrowing the search to two- or three-finalists before commencing a second round of interviews. The leading candidate seems to be Farmer, who served with the Kansas City Chiefs prior to moving to Cleveland last year.
