Dolphins LB coach George Edwards named Vikings defensive coordinator

The Miami Dolphins have spent the past week-and-a-half searching for a new offensive coordinator and a new general manager. Yesterday, the team filled their OC position by hiring Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor to run the team's offense. While the Dolphins have spent this time looking to add new coaches and executives, they have also lost a coach, as was announced today:

Not a bad way to celebrate your 47th birthday, is it?

Edwards joined Miami in 2012 as the team's linebackers coach after two years with the Buffalo Bills as their defensive coordinator. Prior to that promotion, Edwards had been the Dolphins linebackers coach from 2005 to 2009, after one year in the same position with the Cleveland Browns. He spent2002 as the assistant defensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins, before assuming the defensive coordinator position in 2003. He entered the professional ranks as the Dallas Cowboys linebackers coach from 1998-2001.

At the college ranks, Edwards has worked at Duke, Florida, Appalachian State, and Georgia.
