Dolphins 2014 schedule features both AFC Championship game teams

New, comments

The 2014 Miami Dolphins will play three games against the two participants in this year's AFC Championship game. Both the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos will be on Miami's schedule.

The Miami Dolphins may not have their week-to-week schedule for the 2014 season yet, but they do know the 13 teams they will play over the 17-week NFL season. Two of the teams, counting for three of the 16 games, are still playing in the 2013 edition of the NFL season, both taking part in the AFC Championship Game next Sunday.

First is the obvious one, the AFC East division rival for Miami, the New England Patriots. Miami and New England will continue their home-and-home series in 2014. The teams split the 2013 version of the series, with Miami winning the last game, the Dolphins first win over the Patriots since 2009.

The NFL's divisional rotation in schedule making has the AFC East facing off against the AFC West next season, meaning the Dolphins will also play the Denver Broncos. And, as luck would have it, that game will be played in Denver.

The good news is, the rotation of the divisions has the AFC West playing the NFC West in 2014, meaning the Dolphins will not have to face the two NFC Championship Game participants, the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, both of whom are in the NFC West.

Here is the full slate of opponents for the Dolphins in 2014:

HOME: Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens

AWAY: Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders (in London), Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jagaurs
