Cameron Wake injury update: Limited to individual drills in practice

Miami Dolphins All Pro defensive end Cameron Wake sat out most of Sunday's game with a sprained MCL in his knee. He returned to practice today, but was limited to just individual drills.

The Miami Dolphins returned to the practice field today, with All Pro defensive end Cameron Wake fully dressed and participating in individual drills.  Unfortunately, that's as far as the workout went for the two time Pro Bowler, who injured his knee in last Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.  The injury forced Wake to watch most of the game from the sidelines.

Described as a "mild" MCL sprain, the injury could force Wake to have to sit out this week's game against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.  Then again, from the way Wake was stalking the sidelines on Sunday, it might not.

With Wake not conducting team drills, second year defensive end Derrick Shelby will likely start opposite Olivier Vernon on the defensive line.  Rookie Dion Jordan will probably continue to see increased playing time.

With the Dolphins not playing until Monday night, the team does have an extra day to see if Wake will be ready to go against one of the league's top passing offenses.  The Saints are averaging 318.7 yards through the air over their first three games.  Quarterback Drew Brees has been sacked 10 times this season, the third highest total in the league, trailing league leader, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, by four.

Wake has 2.5 sacks through the first three games this season.
