The Miami Dolphins have placed defensive tackle Vaughn Martin on injured reserve following Sunday's victory over the Atlanta Falcons. The specific injury to Martin has not been disclosed.
Martin struggled in an expanded role on Sunday, as he rotated into the defensive line with Pro Bowl defensive tackle Paul Soliai sidelined with a knee injury. Martin was signed this offseason by the Dolphins, and spent most of the preseason playing defensive end before moving back inside to defensive tackle. He was able to make the roster, despite most fans feeling the team would keep Kheeston Randall and/or A.J. Francis over the veteran. However, he was not able to make much impact in his three games with the Dolphins prior to the injury.
Earlier today, it was reported that the Dolphins had signed free agent defensive tackle Marvin Austin.
