AJ Francis claimed on waivers by New England Patriots

It appears the initial reports that A.J. Francis would agree to terms with the Miami Dolphins on a practice squad slot were premature, as the defensive tackle has been claimed off waivers by the New England Patriots.

This one may hurt.  The Miami Dolphins will not be able to sign defensive tackle A.J. Francis to their practice squad, as earlier reportedESPN Boston's Field Yates has reported that the New England Patriots put in a waiver claim on Francis, which will make him a part of the team's 53 man roster.

Earlier today, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reported that Francis had turned down a practice squad offer from the Patriots, intending to return to Miami.  Interesting to see if the offer came before the waiver claim deadline, so when he turned it down, the Patriots simply claimed him instead.

The NFL landscape is currently a very fluid environment, as waiver claims come through from the NFL, as well as teams attempt to sign players to practice squads, out negotiating each other.

The Dolphins are expected to add wide receiver Brian Tyms, if he clears waivers, to their practice squad.
