Dolphins waive RB Cameron Marshall

The Miami Dolphins have announced they have waived/injured running back Cameron Marshall.

USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins have waived/injured running back Cameron Marshall, according to the team's official Twitter account.  Marshall was among the Dolphins' initial free agent signings following the Draft in April.  If no one claims the rookie running back, he will revert to the Dolphins' Injured Reserve list tomorrow.

As a senior in 2012, Marshall competed for playing time in a crowded Arizona State backfield, as new head coach Todd Graham looked to pound the ball against opposing defenses, splitting playing time between three different ball carriers.. He had his fewest carries since his freshman year, but still average 4.3 yards per attempts, and found the end zone nine times. The year prior, he carries the ball 230 times for 1,050 yards (first ASU player to reach 1,000 yards since 2006) with 18 touchdowns, so he has the ability to be a full time rusher.

Marshall was injured late last month during the team's training camp practices.  He was conducted kick returns when he pulled up and immediately grabbed his hamstring.  He had not practiced since.

The team now has a roster spot open, though no word on any player being signed to fill it.  The Dolphins are currently in Jacksonville to face the Jaguars in Preseason Week 1 action tomorrow night.
