The Miami Dolphins have announced the first five roster cuts, ahead of Tuesday's 75 man roster limit. Up until now, teams could have as many as 90 players on the roster. The official deadline for the 75 man limit is 4pm ET on Tuesday.
The announcement from the Dolphins indicates the team has released guards Jeff Braun and Chandler Burden, defensive tackle Chris Burnette, linebacker Alonzo Highsmith, and wide receiver Kenny Stafford.
The Dolphins play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Saturday night, prior to the 75 man roster limit. The team will then play the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, August 29 before the final set of roster cuts are required by the NFL's August 31 deadline. Teams are only allowed 53 men on their active roster throughout the season, with an additional 8 players on a practice squad.
