We are currently making our way through the Miami Dolphins' 90-man offseason roster, breaking down last season for each player, as well as what could happen this year. Today, we continue today with a look at guard Chandler Burden.
Previous Roster Breakdowns: Tracy Robertson Jorvorskie Lane Richard Marshall
Previous Roster Breakdowns: Chad Bumphis Marcus Thigpen Aaron Corp Jonathan Freeny Jordan Kovacs Dion Jordan Chris Burnette Josh Samuda Brian Thomas Keelan Johnson Jeff Fuller Jamar Taylor Michael Egnew Vaughn Martin Michael Clay
2012 Review:
Burden signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2012, but was waived prior to the start of training camp. He subsequently signed with the Dolphins, where he landed on the team's practice squad for the season.
He re-signed with the Dolphins in January.
Why he could improve in 2013:
He has a year of NFL experience, albeit with the practice squad, which will help him in his development. He also spent that year with the Dolphins, meaning he knows the system and the coaches know him. He might have a tough time cracking the roster, but that does not mean he is not improving.
Why he could regress in 2013:
He's a young, development project. Those do not always go well. He could very easily have hit his ceiling already.
Odds he will make the 53-man roster:
The best odds say Burden will end up back on the practice squad this year. Despite all the offensive line changes we have seen over the last few days of camp, the Dolphins are actually fairly deep along the offensive line. It will be tough for Burden to claim a roster spot because of that.
