Vonta Leach returns to Baltimore Ravens

After a long flirtation with Vonta Leach, the Miami Dolphins decided to start training camp without the services of free agent fullback Vonta Leach. Today, Leach returned to the team that released him, the Baltimore Ravens.

It was a long, drawn out process, but in the end, free agent fullback Vonta Leach returned to the team that released him, the Baltimore Ravens. Rumors and speculation had Leach, from nearly the moment he was released, landing with the Miami Dolphins, but Miami backed away from the negotiations without ever having made an offer.

Instead, Miami decided to go to training camp with incumbent fullback Jorvorskie Lane, waiver claim Evan Rodriguez, and a plan to use tight ends as lead blockers, keeping the offense flexible and capable of running the no huddle.

Meanwhile, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported this afternoon that Leach had signed a two year deal to return to the defending Super Bowl champions. Leach would have been a nice luxury for the Dolphins, but was not a necessity for the team. Once the team backed away before the start of training camp, it was pretty much assured that Leach would return to Baltimore.
