The Miami Dolphins hosted free agent fullback Vonta Leach on Wednesday, but saw him leave town without an offer. Two days later, the three time All Pro is said to still be considering his option, with "no time frame on his decision."
According to a report from the Sun Sentinel's Omar Kelly, Leach is continuing to have discussions with multiple teams, including the Dolphins. Along with Miami, the Houston Texans, for whom Leach played from 2006 to 2008, are known to be pursuing the free agent. Various media reports have also stated the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and New York Giants could be interested.
The Ravens have also not ruled out bringing Leach back. He was released on Tuesday after failing to reach an agreement to restructure his contract. He was scheduled to count for $4.3 million against the Ravens cap this year.
Miami is clearly searching for an upgrade at fullback, specifically in pass blocking ability. Currently, the team has Jorvorskie Lane at the position, with Lamar Miller, Daniel Thomas, Mike Gillislee, Jonas Gray, Marcus Thigpen, and Cameron Marshall at halfback. The Dolphins also have Charles Clay and Evan Rodriguez who have both played fullback and tight end.
Rodriguez was claimed off of waivers by Miami on Tuesday. He was a fourth round pick by the Chicago Bears in 2012, playing 12 games for them in his rookie year.
The Dolphins have $17.7 million in salary cap space.
