The Miami Dolphins turn around from their 164th overall pick of Florida running back Mike Gillislee by selecting kick Caleb Sturgis with the 166th pick. This marks three straight picks for the Dolphins from Florida.
Miami has the following pick still remaining:
Round 7 - 250th (Compensatory)
Miami still should be looking to add a wide receiver with the seventh round pick. The pick of Sturgis clearly brings competition to incumbent kicker Dan Carpenter, who struggled in the early portion of the season last year. Carpenter, who missed the final two games last season due to injury, was only 8 of 10 from 40-49 yards last year, and 2 of 5 from 50+ yards. Meanwhile, Sturgis is described as an incredibly accurate kicker, who excels at deep kicks.
Could mean the end of the DC$ era for Miami.
