NFL MVP 2013: Adrian Peterson, AP Offensive Rookie of the Year: Robert Griffin III

The NFL announced the winners of all their major awards tonight. Here is a breakdown of those award, including the 2013 NFL MVP, Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year. Adrian Peterson came away with most of the big honors on the night, with Robert Griffin III scoring the AP's Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

The 2013 NFL Honors show was tonight, with the league handing out their top awards for the 2012-2013 season. During the show, which includes a red carpet arrival of celebrities, players, and coaches, the league handed out some of the most tightly contested award in years. Here's a rundown of the awards and the winners:

  • AP Most Valuable Player - Adrian Peterson, Running back, Minnesota Vikings
  • AP Coach of the Year - Bruce Arians, Offensive Coordinator / Acting Head Coach, Indianapolis Colts

  • AP Comeback Player of the Year - Peyton Manning, Quarterback, Denver Broncos
  • GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Year - Torrey Smith, Wide receiver, Baltimore Ravens (6 receptions, 127 yards, 2 TD performance against New England Patriots day after brother killed in motorcycle accident)
  • FedEx Air Player of the Year - Peyton Manning, Quarterback, Denver Broncos
  • FedEx Ground Player of the Year - Adrian Peterson, Running back, Minnesota Vikings
  • Greatness on the Road - Colin Kaepernick, Quarterback, San Francisco 49ers (Performance in Foxboro against the New England Patriots)
  • Play of the Year - Hey Diddle, Diddle, Ray Rice Up The Middle (4th and 29 yard play by the Baltimore Ravens against the San Diego Chargers, Joe Flacco dumps the ball of to Rice, who somehow gains 30 yards on the play)
  • Salute To Service Award - Charles Tillman, Cornerback, Chicago Bears
  • AP Defensive Player of the Year - J.J. Watt, Defensive end, Houston Texans
