NFL Offseason Calendar: Combine, Free Agency, Draft, and More

The NFL offseason is in full swing. With the Scouting Combine starting this week, here's another look at the league's offseason calendar. The key dates to remember are March 12, when free agency officially begins with players being allowed to sign with new teams, and April 25-27, when the NFL Draft will take place in New York. You can also find out when the 2013 season will kickoff and more.
Also of note this year, the league will allow teams to begin official negotiations with agents of free agent players earlier than the March 12 date. Agents and teams can negotiate starting March 9.

Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, clubs must submit Qualifying Offers to their Restricted Free Agents with expiring contracts and to whom they desire to retain a Right of First Refusal/Compensation.

Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, clubs must submit a minimum salary offer to retain exclusive negotiating rights to their players with expiring 2012 contracts and who have fewer than three seasons of free agency credit.

All 2012 player contracts will expire at 4:00 p.m., New York time.

Top-51 Begins. All clubs must be under the Salary Cap prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time.

The 2013 League Year and Free Agency period begin at 4:00 p.m., New York time.
