NFL Playoff Scenarios - Week 14

With the majority of the Week 14 NFL schedule being played today, we take a look at what playoff positions can be clinched today.

The NFL's Week 14 slate of games are full of playoff implications, from teams trying to lock up their postseason berth to teams trying to stay in the race. While, as Miami Dolphins fans, we are most concerned with the South Florida franchise winning, keeping themselves in position for the final AFC tournament spot, we take a minute to look around the league at who can capture what today.

Starting in the AFC:

Denver Broncos (10-2)
Currently 1st in AFC

Denver clinches a playoff berth with:

Kansas City Chiefs (9-3)
Currently 5th in AFC

Kansas City clinches a playoff berth with:

  • Kansas City win and Miami loss or tie OR
  • Kansas City win and Baltimore loss or tie OR
  • Kansas City tie and Miami loss OR
  • Kansas City tie and Baltimore loss

New England Patriots (9-3)
Currently 2nd in AFC

New England clinches AFC East division title with:

  • New England win and Miami loss or tie OR
  • New England tie and Miami loss

New England clinches playoff berth with:

  • New England win and Baltimore loss or tie OR
  • New England tie and Baltimore loss

Indianapolis Colts (8-4)
Currently 3rd in AFC

Indianapolis clinches AFC South division title with:

  • Indianapolis win OR
  • Tennessee Titans loss OR
  • Indianapolis tie and Tennssee tie

And now in the NFC:

Clinched:

  • Seattle has clinched a playoff berth.

Seattle Seahawks (11-1)
Currently 1st in NFC

Seattle clinches a NFC West division title AND first-round bye with:

  • Seattle win

New Orleans Saints (9-3)
Currently 2nd in NFC

New Orleans clinches a playoff berth with:

Carolina Panthers (9-3)
Currently 5th in NFC

Carolina clinches a playoff berth with:

  • Carolina win and Arizona loss and San Francisco loss and Philadelphia loss or tie and Dallas loss or tie
  • NOTE: If both Dallas and Philadelphia tie, the Saints do now clinch.
