The Miami Dolphins beat the New England Patriots on Sunday behind a great performance from second year quarterback Ryan Tannehill and a last second defensive stand. Tannehill completed 25 passes on 37 attempts against New England, throwing for 312-yards with three touchdowns. He ended the contest with a 120.6 passer rating.

Included in those stats was the game winning drive from the Dolphins, with Tannehill directing the Dolphins 60-yards on nine plays in 2:52. During the drive, Tannehill was 6-for-8 for 66 yards, with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Thigpen, changing New England's 20-17 lead into a Miami 24-20 score line.

After Tom Brady directed the Patriots 76-yards back down the field, the Dolphins finally made a defensive stand and held on to win the game. The last stand, in which Brady took five shots at the endzone, included two great plays from defensive back Michael Thomas, which earned him AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced earlier today,

Tannehill's performance during the game has earned him a nomination for the NFL's FedEx Air Player of the Week. Along with Tannehill, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith were also nominate. Cassel through for 382-yards and two touchdowns in Minnesota's victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, while Smith tallied 287-yards through the air, with five touchdowns.
