Patriots vs Dolphins weather report: Here comes the rain

After heading north two weekends in a row, the Miami Dolphins get to stay at home this week, welcoming the New England Patriots to hot-and-humid South Florida. Included in this week's weather report is a high probability of rain during the game.

The Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots meet up this afternoon in what seems set to be a wet contest. After two away games, in New York and Pittsburgh, the Dolphins come back to a muggy South Florida, and into the heat and humidity as they face the AFC East leading Patriots.

At the 1pm ET kickoff, the forecast is currently projecting an 84-degree afternoon, with 65-percent humidity and southwest winds at 11 miles-per-hour. However, the biggest impact could come from the 30-percent chance of isolated thunderstorms. It could be a wet, muggy game in Sun Life Stadium as both teams look to improve their playoff seeding.

As for the other teams in the race for the last Wildcard position in the AFC, the San Diego Chargers beat the Denver Broncos on Thursday night, while the Baltimore Ravens face the Detroit Lions in Ford Field, meaning the 17-degrees and snow in the forecast for Monday night will have no impact on the game inside the dome.

The New York Jets, who are a game behind the Dolphins in the AFC East, but could become a factor in the Wildcard chase before the final three weeks are complete, play the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, North Carolina, where it will be 50-degrees and sunny come game time.

The Dolphins are currently tied with the Ravens for the ever-important sixth seed, with Baltimore holding the head-to-head tie-break. With their win on Thursday, the Chargers are now a half-game behind the Ravens and Dolphins.
