Richie Incognito interview: 'This will pass'

The Miami Dolphins have spent the past week trying to figure out what caused tackle Jonathan Martin to suddenly leave the team last Monday, then trying to deal with the reasoning behind his departure.  That led to the suspension of guard Richie Incognito, who had been leaving text messages a voicemails that Martin alleges show misconduct.

For the first time since all of this started, Incognito spoke up about this situation during an interview earlier tonight on Miami's WSVN Channel 7.  He had no comment on the voicemails, which included Incognito using a racial slur, as well as saying things like he would slap Martin in the mouth, and slap Martin's mom in the mouth.

However, Incognito did say, "I'm just trying to weather the storm right now.  This will pass."

The Dolphins and the NFL are investigating the situation.  Currently, Martin is still not with the team, and Incognito is suspended.  The team could place Martin on the Non-Football Injury list at some point, which would free a roster spot for the team, and could allow the team to stop paying the tackle.  Meanwhile, the Dolphins are able to keep Incognito suspended for up to four weeks for misconduct, plus can fine him one additional pay check.

What ultimately happens to either player, and if either ever plays another game for the Dolphins, will be seen.  A report earlier this week says Incognito is done in Miami.  However, there is clearly still more to come out from this story.
