All 32 NFL teams have now played at least half their 2013 schedule, with the final Week 9 game coming last night as Chicago beat Green Bay on Monday Night Football. With the week over, we now move on to Week 10, starting with our NFL Power Rankings.
As always, feel free to discuss my rankings in the comments and tell me who is too high or too low.
Team | LW | Change | Week 9 Result | Remarks | |
1 |
![]() Chiefs (9-0) |
1 | -- | W, 23-13 at Buffalo | 9-0 and still rolling. It's not always pretty, but they are the first team guaranteed to have a winning record this year. |
2 |
![]() Seahawks (8-1) |
2 | -- | W, 27-24 OT vs Tampa Bay | That was an impressive comeback, but how Seattle had to come back against Tampa Bay, in Seattle, I don't know. |
3 |
![]() Broncos (7-1) |
3 | -- | BYE | When you have one loss on the year, and you actually lose ground on the division leaders during your bye week, it's a strange year. |
4 |
![]() Colts (6-2) |
5 | +1 | W, 27-24 at Houston | Indianapolis apparently decided they wanted to play in the second half, so they did and they won. |
5 |
![]() Patriots (7-2) |
9 | +4 | W, 55-31 vs Pittsburgh | Talk about flipping a switch. New England put up 28 fourth quarter points to blow out Pittsburgh in a hame that was tied with 2:40 to go in the third. |
6 |
![]() 49ers (6-2) |
7 | +1 | BYE | Come out of the bye to face red hot Carolina then at New Orleans. That's rough. |
7 |
![]() Saints (6-2) |
6 | -1 | L, 26-20 at New York (A) | New Orleans is clearly not the same on the road as they are in the Sueprdome. |
8 |
![]() Bears (5-3) |
10 | +2 | W, 27-20 at Green Bay | Chicago's backup QB is greater than Green Bay's backup QB. |
9 |
![]() Packers (5-3) |
4 | -5 | L, 27-20 vs Chicago | The future of the Green Bay season will be determined by the left shoulder of Aaron Rodgers. |
10 |
![]() Lions (5-3) |
11 | +1 | BYE | What better bye week than to sit at home and move into a tie for the division lead? |
11 |
![]() Bengals (6-3) |
8 | -3 | L, 22-20 OT at Miami | Good thing Andy Dalton's October Offensive Player of the Month did not actually include the October 31 game. |
12 |
![]() Panthers (5-3) |
16 | +4 | W, 34-10 vs Atlanta | Carolina has won four straight, is just a game behind New Orleans, and no one seems to know it. |
13 |
![]() Cowboys (5-3) |
15 | +2 | W, 27-23 vs Minnesota | Great comeback to win, but the Cowboys should not have even been in that position. |
14 |
![]() Jets (5-4) |
17 | +3 | W, 26-20 vs New Orleans | New York has been alternating wins and losses each week. This week was a win, but, unfortunately, next week is the bye. |
15 |
![]() Browns (4-5) |
18 | +3 | W, 24-18 vs Baltimore |
Davone Bess did this and Cleveland won:![]() |
16 |
![]() Dolphins (4-4) |
19 | +3 | W, 22-20 OT vs Cincinnati | A walk off safety in overtime, for just the third time in NFL history, and it's not the focus around Miami this week. Ouch. |
17 |
![]() Ravens (3-5) |
12 | -5 | L, 24-18 at Cleveland | Other than maybe Dallas, no team has bounced up and down the rankings as much as Baltimore this season. |
18 |
![]() Eagles (4-5) |
20 | +2 | W, 49-20 at Oakland | Nick Foles threw for seven touchdown passes. I'll give you a second to try to comprehend that sentence. |
19 |
![]() Titans (4-4) |
21 | +2 | W, 28-21 at St. Louis | Hey, look at that. Someone found Chris Johnson. |
20 |
![]() Falcons (2-6) |
13 | -7 | L, 34-10 at Carolina | I still don't understand why Atlanta is this bad. |
21 |
![]() Chargers (4-4) |
14 | -7 | L, 30-24 OT at Washington | The NFL must not like the Chargers or something. This was their fourth game out of eight to be in the Eastern or Central timezones. That's rough for a west coast team. |
22 |
![]() Redskins (3-5) |
29 | +7 | W, 30-24 OT vs San Diego | As bad as this season has been, Washington is still in NFC East hunt some how. |
23 |
![]() Bills (3-6) |
23 | -- | L, 23-13 vs Kansas City | How bad is Matt Flynn when he gets released by a team that is using practice squad quarterbacks over him? |
24 |
![]() Raiders (3-5) |
22 | -2 | L, 49-20 vs Philadelphia | When your team is carried by the defense, and that defense allows an NFL record tying seven touchdown passes, your team has to reassess. |
25 |
![]() Cardinals (4-4) |
27 | +2 | BYE | Arizona is just a game out of the Wildcard right now. |
26 |
![]() Giants (2-6) |
28 | +2 | BYE | A bad bye week for a team trying to claw back into a division race, when every other division rival wins. |
27 |
![]() Rams (3-6) |
25 | -2 | L, 28-21 vs Tennessee | Remember a couple of weeks ago, when people were wondering if Sam Bradford had thrown his last pass for St. Louis? We're now seeing what happens without the former number one overall pick. |
28 |
![]() Texans (2-6) |
26 | -2 | L, 27-24 vs Indianapolis | After Head Coach Gary Kubiak collapsed on the field at halftime, there was no way Houston could keep their heads in the game. |
29 |
![]() Steelers (2-6) |
24 | -5 | L, 55-31 at New England | Everything seemed to go wrong for Pittsburgh at the end of the game. |
30 |
![]() Buccaneers (0-8) |
32 | +2 | L, 27-24 at Seattle | A performance like that against Seattle earns a bump out of the bottom position. |
31 |
![]() Vikings (1-7) |
30 | -1 | L, 27-23 at Dallas | Three quarters of the NFC North are 5-3. Minnesota isn't. |
32 |
![]() Jaguars (0-8) |
31 | -1 | BYE | Falling back into the bottom position during a bye week is bad, but it happened. |
