Richie Incognito grievance hearing postponed

ESPN is reporting that the grievance hearing for suspended Miami Dolphins Richie Incognito was postponed today. The league moved the hearing until after investigator Ted Wells completes his report into the situation, as the Dolphins had asked earlier this week.

ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that the grievance hearing against the Miami Dolphins from suspended guard Richie Incognito has been postponed.  The hearing has not been rescheduled as of yet, instead the league is expected to wait until investigator Ted Wells finishes his report on the Dolphins' locker room and organization, following up on allegations of player misconduct brought upon the team, and Incognito, by tackle Jonathan Martin.

NBC 6 South Florida video of Richie Incognito arriving at the Miami Dolphins team facility for a grievance hearing that was then postponed.

The Dolphins had asked earlier in the week for the hearing to be delayed, citing Wells' investigation.  The league had not made a ruling on that request until today.  Incognito had shown up at the Dolphins training facility to attend the hearing.

Miami suspended Incognito on November  for conduct detrimental to the team, based on the allegations brought forth by Martin, along with some of the evidence Martin initially handed over to the club.  Incognito's grievance states that the Dolphins have never defined the terms of his suspension, listing it as "indefinite," and have never shown any proof that his conduct was detrimental.  Incognito argues that the only actions hurting the Dolphins are actually coming from Martin and his camp.

Under the NFL and NFL Players Association collective bargaining agreement, the Dolphins can only suspend Incognito for four games for "detrimental conduct," as well as fine him one additional game check.  That means the team has two more games to keep Incognito away from the club before they either have to put him back on the active 53-man roster or waive him.

Wells is meeting with the team this week, interviewing players, coaches, and executives this week after meeting with Martin last week.  Wells was originally thought to be meeting with the Dolphins Monday through Wednesday, but he is still at the team facility today.
