Dolphins vs Patriots: Miami dominates first quarter, leads 7-0

The Miami Dolphins dominated the first period against the New England Patriots. They have a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Miami Dolphins held the New England Patriots to just 24 yards in the first period of their AFC East rivalry game, taking a 7-0 lead and clearly outplaying the division leaders.

The game started off shaky for Miami, who went three and out and punted the ball to Tom Brady and the Patriots after the opening kickoff.  However, on the first play from scrimmage for New England, Dimitri Patterson picked off Brady on a pass intended for Rob Gronkowski.  Miami then turned that turnover into a Ryan Tannehill touchdown pass to Brandon Gibson.

The teams then traded punts to end the quarter.

Tannehill is 7-for-12 for 45 yards and the touchdown, while Brady is 2-for-4 for 10 yards and the interception.

The Dolphins, however, appear to have lost Gibson for at least the remainder of this game to a knee injury.
