Strikes & Gutters: Week 7 Fantasy Advice

Week six represented a decent bounce back performance. I failed gloriously on a few of my predictions, but that is to be expected by now. I should have known better than to think Tony Romo could play way over head two weeks in a row. It also appears that the Browns were onto something by letting Trent Richardson go. He does not seem like a first round talent. I hit the nail on the head with Jordy Nelson and Josh Gordon, both had over 100 yards receiving. 2 out of 4 on strikes isn't too bad. As for the gutters I'll take a 2.5 out of 4. Rivers played well, but not really from a fantasy perspective. The Bills offensive players (C.J. Spiller, Fred Jackson and Stevie Johnson) were all below average and Chris Johnson was held in check (yet again) by the Seahawks Defense. I missed badly on Vincent Jackson. Sometimes talent can win out, I mean Chris Chambers had his best season as a Dolphin with Gus Frerotte at the helm. Also, the cover photo curse seems to have shifted from the player pictured to the team pictured. My sinking fantasy ship had Randall Cobb. That was unfortunate. But we shall press on, and continue to lose in spectacular fashion. On to the strikes!

Strikes:

DeSean Jackson: Great matchup this week with the Cowboys. Jackson is proving to be an incredible fit in Chip Kelly's fast break offense and remains the one real threat to catch the ball. Expect another solid outing.

Julius Thomas: I just traded him last week, so prepare for a monster performance in Indy on Sunday night. In all seriousness, we will be seeing some fireworks from the Denver Offense in this one and Orange Julius will be one of the beneficiaries.

Matt Forte: The Redskins Defense played well last week vs the Cowboys, relatively speaking. They have been vulnerable to big games from RBs this season. I mean you are starting Forte regardless, but expect a great game from him in this matchup.

Jermichael Finley: With all the injuries to the Packers WRs, I think Finley will see an increased role. Also, with Jordy Nelson on Haden Island, Finley will become even more attractive to Aaron Rodgers.

Courtesy Dolphin start of the week, Ryan Tannehill: This is going to be a breakout performance from Tannehill. A week of preparation for a middling Bills team at home. Even with the offensive line woes, our QB is putting up very good numbers. I see a big game for the fish on offense.

Gutters:

Andre Johnson: The Chiefs Defense is legit. They are playing hard and fast and the Texans are in disarray. Don't look for great numbers from Andre Johnson this week.

Patriots Offense: I just don't think they match up well with the Jest. Even if Gronk comes back.

Colin Kaepernick: The Titans are a pretty tough football team. We all can attest to that after what they did to us down here last season. Kap, is still struggling to develop chemistry with his receiving corp. I see the Titans focusing on Vernon Davis and forcing the 49ers into a ground it out type game. I think this is going to be a very low scoring affair.

Jordan Cameron: The Packers defense is better than most think. The Browns are back to being hapless with Brandon Weeden at quarterback. Also, I have Cameron on BOTH of my fantasy teams. Not a good omen.

Courtesy Dolphin sit of the week, none: I'd start all the Dolphins I had within reason (Charles Clay and Brandon Gibson are fringe guys that some people own). I like Wallace, Hartline, Tannehill and Miller to all have decent games. I expect the Defense will be recharged. I really am expecting a big week coming off the bye.

There you have it folks; I've taken some bold stances this week. I'm hoping for a big pay-off and while I expect the the Dolphins to perform well, I'll take a win any way we can get it. As we all know, this is a very un-exact science. Follow this advice at your own risk.
