Thad Lewis injury listed as 'day-to-day' for Bills

The Miami Dolphins are getting ready to face the Buffalo Bills this weekend, but do not really know who they will face under center from their AFC East rivals. The team signed Matt Flynn today, while practice squad turned starter Thad Lewis is now "day-to-day" with a foot sprain.

The Buffalo Bills have had a revolving door at the quarterback position this year, as seemingly anyone who thinks of taking a snap under center ends up injured.  That happened this weekend when practice squad quarterback Thad Lewis joined the active roster as the starting signal caller, only to end up in a walking boot after the game.

As an insurance policy, the Bills signed free agent quarterback Matt Flynn today.  But, they may not need the former Oakland Raiders quarterback.  Lewis' injury has been reported as a "mild" foot sprain, a league source told Pro Football Talk.  He is officially considered "day-to-day," and may be ready to play against the Miami Dolphins this weekend in South Florida.

Lewis was able to complete the game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, a 27-24 overtime loss for Buffalo, but had to use a walking boot after the game and had x-rays before leaving the stadium.  The x-rays, along with an MRI taken today, have determined there is no serious damage to the foot.

Lewis was 19-for-32 for 216 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday, giving him a 100.5 passer rating on the day.  He was sacked five times, losing a fumble, but played well enough to have the ninth best passer rating of the week, through Sunday night's game.
