It's okay Luke. Kansas City's a nice city, at least.

As we look back at the Dolphins' selection of cornerback Desmond Trufant, the first thing to remember is, I made this pick before the Brent Grimes signing. That may have changed my selection, but it also may not have. In this mock, with the Grimes signing, I probably would have selected Lane Johnson to fill the team's need at offensive tackle, but I still really like the idea of landing another cornerback and I think Trufant fills that role perfectly.

The Grimes signing also has me rethinking the idea of selecting Xavier Rhodes over Trufant, simply because Grimes adds a zone coverage corner. The team does not have a big bodied cornerback now, and Rhodes is a little bigger than Trufant, who could press a receiver on the line of scrimmage and be used to (try to) shut down a team's number one target.

As for why I did not select Johnson in the first place, since he was still on the board, I really did consider it. But, I think the team really likes the idea of Jonathan Martin playing left tackle, and I didn't want to pick a right tackle in the first round. If the Dolphins make that selection later this month, I would not fault them. The team has added weapons around second year quarterback Ryan Tannehill, but it won't do any good if he is on his back or running for his life every play. Protecting Tannehill is critical, so another first round pick on an offensive lineman could make sense.

Looking at some of the other picks, I think the St. Louis Rams had an amazing first round. Sure, they had two picks, giving them an advantage over most of the other teams, but the Rams selection of Tavon Austin and Jonathan Cyprien is killer. I was hoping Cyprien would fall to the second round, but the Rams grabbed him.

In the second round, I am looking at addressing some of the other needs for the team, as well as looking for value. High on my needs list right now are another wide receiver, a defensive end, offensive line, safety, and possibly another cornerback. There are a few players I thought would be selected in the first round, but are still sitting on the board right now. We'll see how the first few picks go as we kick off the second round.
