Hey there Dolphin Fans,
Has complaining and whining about Miami gotten downright confusing!?
Do you find yourself lying awake at night wondering who to blame?
Does seeing players like Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers on other teams make you want to pop a blood vessel???
NEVER FEAR!!!! Introducing the brand new, state-of-the-art, Miami Dolphins FLOWCHART!
How does it work you ask!? Well it's so easy that even JEFF IRELAND can figure it out!
Step One: Pick your Complaint.
Anything can work here! Are you as mad as I am about Vontae? Are you wondering why we haven't signed T.O. yet? Do you not like the ice tea at the stadium!?
Any of those will work PERFECTLY!!!
Step Two: Formulate Complaint.
Now, here's where it gets good! The flowchart is so revolutionary that it will automatically use deductive reasoning and sound logic to formulate the best solution. The best part? Jeff Ireland ALWAYS gets fired.. can it get ANY EASIER?!
Obviously, this is a joke... But unfortunately, I wouldn't have made this stupid flowchart if there wasn't any truth to it. Honestly, this post has nothing to with me SUPPORTING or BASHING Jeff Ireland. I'll leave that for you to decide, because the fact is you probably have made up your mind about our GM anyway.
Personally, I think Ireland has done an average job. Do I think his drafts for the most part have been solid? Yes. Do I think he has chosen some unwise wording during pre-draft interviews? Yes. But, I'm not going to go in depth into Ireland's resume- the point is I don't think he should be fired because I don't think it is necessarily warranted and I personally don't have a better option to find his replacement.
If you want to make something happen THEN explain your solution. The "FIRE JEFF IRELAND" chant has been so EASY because people don't have to make up a solution. It's as if by firing Ireland, a magical fairy genie will appear to grant all our wishes! Ireland has been the face of our FO since Parcells left and I admit, I am not happy in the state of where this team has gone the last 5 years. I hate losing as much as you do, trust me. But you can't just fire one guy on a whim and realistically expect everything to change for the better.
You want to see Ireland go? So be it. But just be prepared for Stephen Ross' buddy, Carl Peterson, to take over at the realm. You want to know more about Peterson? Go ask a Kansas City Chief fan, but I'd consider wearing goggles and/or a helmet first because they might try to stab you in the face.
My point- About the easiest thing a person can do is get angry at a decision and respond by saying "Ireland needs to go". If you believe that Jeff Ireland is the reason why Miami has been subpar forever, then that's fine. But why? What has he done to warrant his pink slip? Would you be content with Carl Peterson taking his place? If not, then what do you propose?
Simply put, fans are getting lazy. If you're going to take the time to log on to a Dolphins blog and comment then you're obviously passionate enough to care about the state of this team. If you care enough, then all I'm asking is you do some CRAZY techniques like independent thought, research and thinking before violently reacting. Sounds tough, but I assure you, it's entirely possible. Well maybe not for Jets fans..
Hell, we're all fans here! I'm sure all of us have seen a head-scratching move within the Ireland regime that we didn't understand!? I'll be the first to admit it! Was getting a 2nd round pick and a 6th round pick good value for Vontae Davis? Yes. Am I still a bit overall confused on why we wanted to trade one of our younger pieces considering our lack of depth at the CB postion? Sure. Would I want to get on the wrong side of the new coaching staff as a player? Negative. Nobody, not even Steven Ross, coach Philbin, players, and even Mr. scapegoat himself, Ireland, is going to agree 100% completely on EVERY personnel decision made. In a sense, us fans are not too different. IF Hard Knocks has taught me anything it's to remind me that:
1.) Football is a business first and a game second
2.) Alot goes on behind the scenes that the average fan will never know.
Whether the Dolphins go 3-13 or 13-3, I'll be a fan. If something angers me that my Dolphins have done (and let's be honest, it will happen again) then I will be the first to speak my mind. But I'll be dammed sure that I'll think about it, before speaking my mind. I'll leave you with two quotes:
Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one.
Don't be stupid, dummy...speak before you talk!
Yes, you might want to "think" before you talk, otherwise you might come across as a lazy fan who has nothing better to do than complain. For those of you who do, you may want to refer to the easy-to-use flowchart that I posted above :)
