I know the Miami Dolphins are returning to the practice field today, and you all would like to read something about the team today, more than something like this, but I want to say thank you to all of you. Today marks my one year anniversary as the managing editor of the Phinsider.
Truly, it's been a blast over the last year, and it's because of you all that I have enjoyed it. The fact that I get to write about the Dolphins is fun. The fact that I get to write about the Dolphins on a blog such as this, and that you all actually read what I put out there is simply amazing to me.
Over the past year, it hasn't always been perfect. There was a lot of heartache as I took over for Matty, molding the site from what he founded to what I wanted to do with it. I know we lost some people who used to be big contributors here on the site, and I wish that hadn't have had to happen, but with a major change like the switch from Matty to me, it wasn't all that surprising as well.
However, we have also seen amazing growth and the addition of some great members of the community. We have seen outstanding posts and comments coming in from all over the place. We do not all agree all the time, and that's what makes the Phinsider so great. We can have a debate, and can still all support the Dolphins.
I know I exasperate some of you. I know I can get worked up and frustrated at times. I try not to let it boil over, but at times it does. Just like with any one of you. Yet, whenever it does, we all still play by the rules, and we still come out of it knowing it's because of our passion for the same team that we all get so worked up.
At the start of July, the Phinsider's 2012 traffic surpassed all of 2011's to take over as the busiest year in the site's history - and we had not even gotten to training camp, let alone the season. That amazing statistic is because of you. If this site were just me, or just me and the contributing authors, it would not be anything like it is. It's because all of you share your thoughts and your analysis that this is the place to go for Miami Dolphins news and content.
And, it's because of all of you that I am able to brag about things like getting the Ryan Tannehill interview video ahead of every other rookie's video. And, it's because of you that we can be closing in on the Kansas City Chiefs training camp preview, and why we are now the featured video out of the 14 teams who made a training camp preview.
So, once again, thank you for allowing me to write about the Dolphins, and for making the site successful. Now, let's get back to the Dolphins news and prepare for a great season.
Kevin
P.S. - I'm still asking you to keep watching the video below, so we can try to actually catch the Chief's video, rather than just get close. (Currently: KC 5,000 - MIA 3,500)
