Could this be Van Halen's stage in 2013?
Could this be Van Halen's stage in 2013?

USA Today featured an article with Eddie and Wolf Van Halen this morning, with the father and son duo discussing how well they work together, the short US tour dates for this summer's A Different Kind of Truth tour, and the rumors of a feud brewing between the band and lead singer David Lee Roth.

However, it was something else they said that leads to today's speculation.

"So in November, we'll hit Japan, and in the new year, we'll possibly do something special, but I can't talk about it," Eddie stated.

What could be "special" for Van Halen, in a year when they released a new album? What could be special enough to alter tour dates in the "new year?" What could do all that, and not allow a musical artist to not about something?

The Super Bowl?

Could Van Halen be in talks with the NFL to be this year's Super Bowl Halftime show?

When you look back at the recent halftime acts, Van Halen could fit the mold: Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, The Who, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, The Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney - after the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake fiasco.

So what do you think? Could that one little quote mean Van Halen is working on heading to Super Bowl XLV? Would you be interested in Van Halen performing at the Super Bowl?
