Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill hit the practice field for the first time as an NFL quarterback today, as the Dolphins began their rookie minicamp. Tannehill, who spent his college career at Texas A&M, is already familiar with the team's offensive playbook after reuniting with his former head coach, Mike Sherman, who is now the Miami offensive coordinator.
Rookie head coach Joe Philbin has repeatedly stated that the best quarterback will be the team's starter in Week 1 of the 2012 season. Tannehill's familiartity with the playbook will help him get a jump on the two veterans on the team, incumbent starter Matt Moore, and free agent acquisition David Gerrard.
The team's rookie minicamp will continue through the weekend.
More from today's first rookie practices later today.
