NFC Playoffs - Team Most Likely to Join 2012 Postseason

After a great start to the year, the Chicago Bears saw injuries keep them out of the 2011 playoffs. Do they change that in 2012?
After a great start to the year, the Chicago Bears saw injuries keep them out of the 2011 playoffs. Do they change that in 2012?

Over the past week, we've taek look at the teams most likely to miss the 2012 NFL Playoffs despite making it in 2011. With a 50% turn-over rate in the NFL's playoffs every year, there will typically be three teams from each conference that join the playoffs, having not been there the year before. After the vote post yesterday for the AFC, it's now time to turn our attention to the NFC.

The NFC saw the following teams make it into the playoffs last year:

  1. Green Bay Packers
  2. San Francisco 49ers
  3. New Orleans Saints
  4. New York Giants
  5. Atlanta Falcons
  6. Detroit Lions

After the first step in the voting was complete, the Phinsider Community decided that the Saints, Falcons, and Lions would not be making the postseason in 2012. Now, we get to look at which three teams will take their places.

There are 10 teams in the NFC which could fill those three positions:

  1. Chicago Bears
  2. Arizona Cardinals
  3. Philadelphia Eagles
  4. Dallas Cowboys
  5. Seattle Seahawks
  6. Carolina Panthers
  7. Washington Redskins
  8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  9. Minnesota Vikings
  10. St. Louis Rams

Now, we have to determine which of those teams is most likely to fill the playoff vacancies in 2012. In order to do that, all you have to do is vote. Pick the team you think is most likely to make the playoffs. Once the voting is complete, I will tally it up and see which three teams have the most votes, while making sure we don't end up violating the actual possibilities of teams making the postseason (i.e., no NFC South team being in the top 3, since someone has to be the division winner).

We will look at the results from both the AFC poll and today's NFC voting tomorrow.
