How Does This Player Fit: Lamar Miller

The Miami Dolphins found another weapon from 'The U' to bolster their backfield.

The Miami Dolphins have Reggie Bush on the roster who just had a career year. They traded up in the 2011 draft to select Daniel Thomas, a big, bruising type back. They resigned Steve Slaton this offseason. But the Dolphins felt they needed another weapon in the backfield and selected Lamar Miller from 'The U' in the 4th round. Miller is a second round talent and at some points during the offseason, was considered a first rounder. He has good size at 5'11" and 212 pounds. He has 4.4 speed and can be a weapon in the passing game. He has value as a return guy as well. Injury issues have caused him to fall this far in the draft.

THIS SEASON:

Miller is going to be a developmental back who will get some reps along side Bush as Miller or Bush can be split out wide in certain sets. He most likely will get 5-10 reps a game until he develops. He will most likely have to make his mark on special teams to start out. Miller is also going to be insurance in case Bush gets injured and/or decides to request a huge contract in the offseason.
