The Miami Dolphins finally get their pressure player they need to complement Wake.

The Dolphins have needed to find a pass rusher to pair with Wake. They were going to draft one and chose Olivier Vernon in the 3rd round. Vernon is the first player from 'The U' that the Dolphins have drafted since Vernon Carey in 2004. Vernon is a prospect with talent and potential and the Dolphins have had their eyes on him all offseason. He is athletic with good initial burst off the snap. He can play with his hand in the dirt and possibly in a 2-point stance in a 3-4 front.

THIS SEASON:

Vernon is more of a developmental prospect than an immediate starter at DE/OLB. However, he can be brought in on sub packages or on passing downs for this season. He will be behind Westerman on the depth chart to begin with. As he develops, he will get more playing time and earn some starting time.
