Well there you go Dolphins fans! The Dolphins have selected a quarterback in the first round for the first time since 1983. I don't think it's a mystery how Tannehill will fit in with the Dolphins. Tannehill was selected to be the franchise quarterback of the future for the Miami Dolphins.
Tannehill is considered a project at the QB position. He only had 19 starts at Texas A&M as a QB. However, Tannehill has experience in the west coast offense and more specifically our new OC Mike Sherman's offense. Tannehill is accurate with a strong arm. He has great intangibles and will be a good field general for the Dolphins. He has all the makings of the franchise QB that Miami covets.
THIS SEASON:
The Dolphins have the luxury of letting Tannehill sit for a while behind veterans Matt Moore and David Garrard. He can ease into the offense when he's ready. That could be in 2013 or later into 2012 depending on how the season goes. He can develop with the young WRs that the Dolphins have and will draft later this weekend.
The plan here is that Tannehill will develop into the franchise QB the Dolphins have needed for over a decade now. If he pans out, the Dolphins have a 15 year starter that will make us perennial playoff and championship contenders.
