Dick Clark RIP
As most if not all of you know by now the great Dick Clark passed away today at the age of 82. Many of you are too young to know of him as anything outside of his New Year Eve countdowns but he has been in the entertainment industry going all the way back to 1945. His is a career that included everything from radio shows to game shows and a little of everything in between. The one thing that he is probably most well know for is his show American Band Stand. American Band Stand ran from 1952 to 1989 and either introduced or highlighted many of the biggest names in music of all time.
I thought as a little mini tribute to Dick tonight's question would be what is your all time favorite show that was either a music showcase or in some way was centered around music?
Mine is the great Austin City Limits. It was initially created to feature the music and Artist of Texas but has since expanded to included styles and musical acts from all over the world. It has been running since 1976 and can be seen on local PBS stations nation wide.
As always this is an open thread meaning that any topic is on the table with the exception of politics and religion. Please limit the posting of picks to two or three per person. Also please no GIF's in any of the live thread. They slow down the load speeds for those on slower connections. Remember this is a front page post so please do your best to keep the conversation as close to PG as possible.
So tell us, what is your favorite TV show based in some way on music?
The late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan live on Austin City Limits in 1989. (If you don't know why this is total greatness please let me know so that I may send Alpha!)
