It's no secret this offseason that the Miami Dolphins are searching for a quarterback upgrade. The team that has been through 16 different quarterbacks since Dan Marino retired in 1999 (quick, can you name them all?), is once again looking to find the one guy who will finally elevate the play of the offense.
Speaking to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel yesterday, new Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman explained exactly what he is looking for in a quarterback.
"You like to have a guy who will let the system work for him instead of him making the system work. Go through his progressions, reads.
"I always start with feet. If you have good feet you have balance at the top of your routes. You have good throwing position. I always start from the feet up on quarterbacks."
Now, as the Dolphins look to decide between Peyton Manning, Matt Flynn, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill, or someone not on the radar right now, we'll see what kind of upgrade Miami is able to make this offseason.
By the way, the quarterbacks are: Jay Fiedler, Damon Huard, Ray Lucas, Brian Griese, A.J. Feeley, Sage Rosenfels, Gus Frerotte, Joey Harrington, Daunte Culpepper, Cleo Lemon, Trent Green, John Beck, Chad Pennington, Chad Henne, Tyler Thigpen, and Matt Moore.
