The Miami Dolphins, who have been outplaying the San Francisco 49ers throughout the day, trail 6-3 at the half. Miami let the 49ers drive down the field on the last possession of the half, going 61 yards in nine plays to take the lead on a last second field goal.
Without the final drive, the Dolphins defense had held the 49ers to less than 100 yards of total offense, now totaling 158 yards, 120 of them through the air. The Dolphins have 129 yards of offense, with 96 of them through the air.
Dolphins rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehil is 10-for-14 for 104 yards on the day. Running back Reggie Bush has seven carries for 31 yards.
On the other side, Collin Kaepernick is 12-for-15 for 133 yards, while Frank Gore has 26 yards on five carries. Wide receiver Michael Crabtree has 5 receptions for 62 yards.
The defensive story of the game was expected to be San Francisco's Aldon Smith, going against rookie tackle Jonathan Martin, who is making his first career start at left tackle. Smith has tallied one sack, but is being out done by Miami's Cameron Wake. Wake has three sacks on the day, along with two tackles for loss. Wake is simply dominating early in the game, and will have to continue that in the second half for Miami to reclaim the lead.
