I'm going to be perfectly honest with you guys, I barely listened to the game against the San Francisco 49ers. I was so worried about my finals this week, I blew off the game. I made a poor decision. My one professor decided to not give us a test and changed it into a two minute speech of what you learned over the semester. My second final was traditional, sit down and take the test at 9 a.m. I had another final at 6 p.m that same day. I decided I would sit around campus and study. What a mistake, the professor made it a take home final. So I studied for nothing and missed most of the Dolphins game.
However, we look forward to hosting our inner-state friends, the Jacksonville Jaguars. I have very few good ideas for this post. I expect the Dolphins to dismantle this team. I also expected us to dominate the Titans...and look what happened.
Here are some things I'm looking for:
Return of Chad Henne
Chad Henne has done a wonderful job filling in for the injured Blaine Gabbert. Henne has gone 94/182, 1217 yards, and 8 touchdowns along with 5 interceptions.
I remember when I thought this guy was the future, then the 4th quarter of the games came around. Last week against the Jets, Henne was leading a drive with seconds to go and ended up throwing an interception. Nothing we Dolphin fans haven't seen before.
Henne is making the guys around him look better, something Gabbert couldn't do. I see Henne having an alright day against his former team. But I think the Jaguars should look for another first round quarterback in the draft.
Reggie Bush and Company
I fully expect Reggie Bush to get a ton of carries on Sunday. I liked how Sherman finally decided to put Bush out wide.
The Dolphins face the second worst run defense in the Jaguars. A good run game helps the quarterback. I see a lot of success on the ground this Sunday.
Daniel Thomas didn't get many touches last week, but he may to come in to give Bush a breather every now and then. Lamar Miller finally got some playing time, but didn't do much against the stout 49ers defense.
Philbin's Coaching Philosopy
You've got to earn your playing time to play for this team according to Joe Philbin. Okay, I can live with that. But we're out of the playoffs. I see no need to earn time to play. Put the young guys in and see what they got.
Who needs to step up?
Last week I kind of had three, Martin, Dansby, and Burnett. Jonathan Martin did a nice job, or so I'm told, of holding down the left tackle position. He' the only one I wanted to touch on, but I still think we need to bring back Jake Long.
Reshad Jones is this weeks player.
"Wait Kdog!? He's been playing great all year!"
I know that, you know that, we all know that. Jones deserves a Pro-Bowl. I'm only stating he needs to make an impact play this week to finally catch some national attention. Get an interception, which I can see him doing against this Jaguars offense. Force a fumble and actually recover one already.
What are you watching for?
But most importantly, what are you guys watching for?
