Miami Dolphins Promote DB De'Andre Presley Off Practice Squad

Yesterday, the Miami Dolphins released three players from the roster, making space for wide receiver Jabar Gaffney as well as two more transactions. Today, the team announced one of those additional moves, promoting defensive back De'Andre Presley from the practice squad.

The Miami Dolphins have announced the promotion of defensive back De'Andre Presley from the team's practice squad. Presley joined the Dolphins' practice squad this season after being released by the San Diego Chargers in the final round of preseason roster cuts.

The 5-10, 185-pound Presley attended Appalachian State, where he played quarterback, wide receiver, cornerback, and returned punts and kicks. Presely is a Florida native, attending Middleton High in Tampa.

The Dolphins have been extremely shallow at cornerback this season, only carrying Sean Smith, Richard Marshall, Nolan Carroll, and R.J. Stanford. The team has also been using cornerback-turned-safety Jimmy Wilson as a corner throughout the year. Bringing Presely to the roster gives the team a little more depth, especially in defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle's system. Coyle was the Cincinnati Bengals' defensive backs coach prior to joining the Dolphins.

The team also signed defensive back Julian Posey to the practice squad to replace Presely. Posey spent the preseason with the New York Jets before being released in the final round of roster cuts.

Miami still has one open roster position to be filled.
