Dolphins at Jets: Miami Dispatches New York

The Miami Dolphins lost to the New York Jets in overtime when the two teams met in Week 3. The Dolphins were not going to allow that to happen again.

Alex Trautwig

The Miami Dolphins simply, and totally, smacked the New York Jets in the mouth today, and the Jets could not respond. The Dolphins beat New York handily, and they beat them in every aspect of the game.

Miami walks away from the game with a 4-3 record, the first time they have been above .500 in Week 8 of the season in the season since being 5-2 in 2003. And, before you jump on me, the Dolphins were 3-4 in Week 8 of the 11-5 2008 season.

The Dolphins seemed prepared for everything the Jets did today, on offense, defense, and special team. From being able to adapt to Matt Moore coming in to replace the injured Ryan Tannehill, to Chris Clemons intercepting Mark Sanchez at the goal line, to Jimmy Wilson blocking a punt, to Olivier Vernon blocking a field goal and scoring a touchdown, the Dolphins simply crushed the Jets.

Miami also saw injuries to Karlos Dansby, Randy Starks, and Tony McDaniel, but never slowed, even as backups filled in.

What a great way for the Dolphins to come out of the bye. What a great way to even the season series - and to keep Rex Ryan from ever having swept the Dolphins in his head coaching career.

The week was not perfect for the Dolphins, because the New England Patriot beat the St. Louis Rams in London today, keeping Miami a half-game behind them in the AFC East, but other than that one small thing, this is an amazing weekend for the Dolphins.

I could go over all the stats, but we will do that plenty during the week. Instead, let's just turn this thread into a live celebration thread. Enjoy the late games!

Oh, and to make sure the Jets understand exactly what happened today, Richie Incognito probably "said" it best:
