Miami Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas returned to practice yesterday, his first day back since a Week 5 concussion sidelined him. The injury, which resulted in the second year running back missing last week's game against the St. Louis Rams, was Thomas' second consussion of the season. He was also injured during Miami's Week 1 contest at the Houston Texans, which caused him to miss the team's Week 2 game.
The Dolphins have a bye this week, before facing the New York Jets in Week 8. The team has conducted non-contract drills the last two days, so Thomas has not had to be limited in any of his work. He has, according to multiple reports, cleared all the NFL mandated tests, and can take part in full contact drills and will be available for the Jets game.
Thomas has said he will practice and play wearing a new, oversized helmet which has been designed to minimizie traumatic brain injuries, including concussions.
