NFL Week 2 Power Rankings

Taking your suggestions, I asked Matty I, kmb8488, and texascowpunk to help me out with this week's Power Rankings.  Each of us ranked all 31 teams, and the average was used to provide the Power Rankings for this week.

Each of us also took two divisions (kmb8488 took the two North divisions, Matty I had the Wests, texascowpunk had the Easts, and I had the Souths), to add comments for each team.

The largest gain of the week goes to the Tennessee Titans, gaining 8 spots.

The largest fall of the week goes to the Jacksonville Jaguars, losing 9 spots.

Let me know if you like this method better:

Green Bay Packers

The offense in Northern Wisconsin has looked stellar (as expected) thus far, but the loss of ace safety Nick Collins is going to be a major problem for the Pack as the season moves forward. (kmb8488)

2

2

New England Patriots

Tom Brady, well being Tom Brady. Two games, 940 yards passing, 7 td's and a 128 QB rating has the Pats right back at the top of the NFL. So what else is new? (texascowpunk)

3

6

Houston Texans

This team might just be for real.  A dismantling of the Colts followed by making the Dolphins look bad, and they are clearly in command of the AFC South. (Mosul_DolFan)

5

New Orleans Saints

3

The 2009 Super Bowl Champs seem to be getting back into the groove. (Mosul_DolFan)

5

11

New York Jets

7

5

7

Bad news for the Jets:they just lost their best offensive player for a few games. Even worse news for the Jets: he's their center. (texascowpunk)

6

12

Detroit Lions

6

8

9

5

We're finally seeing what Matthew Stafford is all about, and Calvin Johnson looks unstoppable right now. However, the most impressive thing about the Lions is that their defensive line-arguably the best and most feared in the NFL-hasn't even added rookie defensive tackle Nick Fairley to the mix yet. (kmb8488)

7

3

Philadelphia Eagles

8

9

6

6

I have them here based on talent and potential even after a let down game leading to a loss in week two. (texascowpunk)

8

7

San Diego Chargers

4

11

12

Despite four turnovers, SD played Pats tough in New England. Offense remains among most explosive in NFL. (Matty I)

9

4

Baltimore Ravens

11

6

7

8

Tough loss at Tennessee last week, but the Ravens are still legitimate contenders in the AFC, and have the ability to loads of points in the air and on the ground. The big question right now is whether or not Baltimore's offensive line can stay healthy. (kmb8488)

10

9

Atlanta Falcons

7

10

10

10

Got demolished by the Bears, came back to beat the Eagles in the 4th quarter.  What exactly are the Falcons? (Mosul_DolFan)

11

10

Pittsburgh Steelers

10

11

8

9

Quite the Jekyll and Hyde performance from the Steelers over the last two weeks, though a rout of the Seahawks at home isn't really anything to write home about. The Steelers' porous secondary (outside of Troy Polamalu) continues to cost Pittsburgh against pass-happy opponents, while their ragged, pieced-together offensive line continues to put Ben Roethlisberger in harm's way. There's cause for concern in the Steel City. (kmb8488)

12

8

Chicago Bears

13

12

16

11

It's year two of the Mike Martz era in Chicago, and Jay Cutler looks poised to have a breakout season. Unfortunately, the Bears' abominable offensive line will almost certainly snuff out any 2011 heroics from No.6. This should be the last hurrah for Head Coach Lovie Smith and General Manager Jerry Angelo. (kmb8488)

13

13

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

12

14

12

15

Have got to figure out rushing, and stopping the rush - but they are going to get better (Mosul_DolFan)

14

14

Dallas Cowboys

14

13

14

14

Not a very good all around team IMO. Romo is still too hot and cold. Week one he looks great before coughing up the game at the end. Week two he brings his team back for an overtime win with broken ribs and a punctured lung. Well at least we know he's tough.  (texascowpunk)

15

21

Washington Redskins

15

15

13

13

2-0? Did anyone see this coming? Maybe Shanahan knows more then the rest of us when he says Grossman can play and be an effective QB. (texascowpunk)

16

19

Buffalo Bills

17

19

15

16

2-0? Really? This can't keep up, can it? (texascowpunk)

17

25

Tennessee Titans

16

16

18

19

Matt Hasselbeck apaprently has enough in his tank to at least make the Titans competitive. (Mosul_DolFan)

18

24

Oakland Raiders

18

17

17

17

Hoping for a big effort with back-to-back home games against Jets and Patriots next. (Matty I)

19

17

New York Giants

19

18

19

18

They looked good against the Rams in week two and I still say meh.... Need line help on both sides of the ball.  (texascowpunk)

20

18

Arizona Cardinals

21

22

20

22

Heart-breaking defeat last week but offense looks like best in the worst division. (Matty I)

21

23

San Francisco 49ers

24

24

21

20

Tough loss to Dallas but can bounce back this week in Cincinnati. (Matty I)

22

16

Miami Dolphins

22

23

23

24

At the bottom of the division and near the bottom of the league you can expect some serious house cleaning if things do not change real fast with this team. A coach with a team that has this much talent and performs so poorly does not keep his job for very long. (texascowpunk)

23

20

St. Louis Rams

20

21

25

27

Injuries dereailing team early and brutal early season schedule continues. Next five games are BAL, WAS, GB, DAL, and NO. Ouch! (Matty I)

24

15

Jacksonville Jaguars

23

20

27

26

The Lunk McCown era lasted one game - it's time for the Blaine Gabbert era (Mosul_DolFan)

25

32

Denver Broncos

29

26

22

21

May be short on talent but John Fox will have this team prepared each and every week. (Matty I)

26

30

Cleveland Browns

28

28

24

25

Fans who inhabit the "Dawg Pound" have some things to be excited about: Payton Hillis looks even stronger this season; Cleveland's secondary has some serious pop in the form of Joe Haden and T.J. Ward; Colt McCoy looks very comfortable at the helm right now; and the Browns' offensive line is nearly unshakeable on the left side. However, many growing pains lay ahead for Cleveland this season, and their defensive front seven is far from a finished product. (kmb8488)

27

28

Carolina Panthers

25

29

28

23

At least the fans can cheer for Cam Newton. (Mosul_DolFan)

28

27

Minnesota Vikings

26

25

29

28

It's not all bad up in Minnesota, but the Vikings now have no true No.1 wideout, no permanent answer at left tackle, and a ragged, aging defensive line. Despite these major flaws, Minnesota could very easily be 2-0 right now, if not for the Vikings' complete inability to make key defensive stops late against San Diego and Tampa Bay. This shortcoming will likely be a recurring theme in Minnesota throughout the season. (kmb8488)

29

29

Cincinnati Bengals

27

27

26

29

Cincinnati Bengals - Andy Dalton looks pretty good thus far, and the Bengals' defensive line can create some serious pressure, but the loss of cornerback Johnathan Joseph will continue to sting as this season progresses. Consistency in the ground game is also a big-time concern for the Bengals right now. (kmb8488)

30

22

Indianapolis Colts

31

30

30

30

Could the Colts really be in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes? (Mosul_DolFan)

31

31

Seattle Seahawks

30

31

31

31

Marshawn Lynch averaging 2.3 yards per carry. And he was supposed to be the strength of the offense. (Matty I)

32

26

Kansas City Chiefs

32

32

32

32

KC's been outscored 89-10 and are now without Jamaal Charles - meaning Chiefs now front-runners in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. (Matty I)
