Miami Dolphins Sign Veteran Safety Gerald Alexander

Veteran safety Gerald Alexander announced via his Twitter page today that he has signed with the Miami Dolphins.

Alexander is a five year NFL vet, playing for the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Carolina Panthers since coming in to the league in 2007.  He has 159 tackles, 2 sacks, 14 passes defensed, and 4 interceptions in his career.  He played in just five games last year, three with the Jaguars and two with the Panthers.

Alexander wrote "Miami Dolphins!!!!! LETS GO! #BackToFootball" upon signing his contract with the Dolphins.

He later added, "@PhinsRock the ink just dried. I will learn both positions," replying to The Phinsider's own Phins Rock, and referencing both safety positions.

He also stated, "Thanks for the warm reception Fins fans. If ur a new follower...enjoy the ride.  That's all imma say.  Oh, and don't be afraid to say wassup."

Finally, he wanted to make sure all the Miami fans know, he's a die heard Lakers fan.  But, as he said, "But it's football season so we good! Plus NBA players bout to leave the country"

For all you Heat fans, I guess you have a new guy to try to convert this season.
